BeachTime.

Straying from art for this one. It’s nearly a year since my allo transplant. I can honestly say I am doing so well. I have a few tired days here and there. I have pain in my hips, but what “almost 60-year-old” (yikes) doesn’t?

I rented a house in Panama City Beach. It was at the end of a small road, so it was really private. It was a large place that could accommodate my family. It was meant to be a time when my brother, sister, and I could get together. I wanted us to have fun and be in a non-stress environment and enjoy each other.

The last time we were together was when my mom was dying and I had to say goodbye and then go home. My goal was to spoil the two of them a little bit after all they had been through with my mom dying. They arranged the funeral and took care of her house and belongings.

My kids got to come too. Since they came at different times, I could spend time with each one-on-one. It was so refreshing because once your kids are adults, it’s hard to spend time with them like that.

We did all the things… ate too much, baked in the sun and laughed a lot. Overall it was a great trip.
