My husband and I recently took the trip of a lifetime. We went to Venice and Rome. We saw Sorrento and Sicily and quaint cities in Greece, ending in Athens. This post isn’t about art, but it is about LIVING!
I kept a journal while I was gone, documenting each day so I could go back and relive the moment when memories start to fade. On the first page of the journal, I started in January of this year. I had written, “I am thankful for all the days of my life.” That was it. Nothing else. Well, I am still thankful for all the days of my life, and I can’t believe I was well enough to go on such a trip and really enjoy it.
I’m going to share some meaningful photos I took. This post is mostly me living my best life, and the photos prove it.

Monemvasia, Greece. My good friends say this looks like a travel guide photo, haha.

St. Peter’s Basilica, Day and Night

Gytheio, Greece. This picture is from when I had the “I made it! I’m recovered moment (mostly)!” I had been looking forward to this day at the beach in Greece for the whole trip. I knew it would be a “pinch me” moment! And it was!!
The second picture is of me and Les, also in Monemvasia, Greece. We had the best time on our trip abroad. I hope our happiness shows through.

Lastly, here is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. It embodies the spirit of Venice.
A year ago, my mom passed away at the end of September. The month of October was terrible. I had lost 75 pounds since the transplant and was malnourished. The providers were begging me to gain weight, but I just couldn’t. Then, I contracted COVID and missed going to my mom’s funeral. Still can’t believe it. Lastly, I was hospitalized with infectious colitis. They did many tests to try to figure out if I was suffering from GVHD. Fortunately, I wasn’t.
In November, I started to “get better.” I gradually gained weight and became stronger.
I still don’t have GVHD, and I am exceedingly blessed! GVHD- graft-versus-host disease- is when my new immune system and my old one decided to have a “fight.” Most people post-transplant develop symptoms, and so far I don’t have any.
So, this is my “LIVING” post. It doesn’t take an amazing trip to make me recognize that each day is special. I am thriving and thank God for all he has provided.
Hope you are living your life to the fullest. I know it’s hard when things are mundane. You never know when there isn’t anything you wouldn’t do for something mundane. Angie
