There are times when I’m feeling stressed or just some type of way that needs to “get out”, so I decide to do a collage art card. Sometimes I do some research on a theme to give me direction. That day, I decided to collage the color I was feeling. I researched the color yellow–haha, yes, I did. Once I did, I found my direction. I make collages by pulling things that interest me from hundreds of pages from magazines and other books. On this day, I was obviously searching for yellow things.
This is an excerpt from what I journaled on the back: “When I think about (yellow), I think of warmth and happiness, connections with others. However, yellow can also have negative connotations, such as caution at a traffic light or on a yield sign. Research shows that yellow can also be a color connected to illness and anxiety. That’s how I feel right now. I want to be optimistic about my health, but there is the underlying nagging idea that I need to be cautious with my optimism.”
“What do you give me?” “What do you want from me?” Remind me that it’s okay to be stuck between happiness and sadness, or happiness and anxiety. Remind me to be calm and happy.
Symbolism:
The Bee represents Christ and symbolizes love. It also represents growth, as it pollinates and reminds me to keep growing on the journey and recover from cancer. The clouds near the top remind me of what I think “the heavens” look like. The person in the middle is me. I just decided to make something silly. Of course, there are daisies (I will explain their significance later). The car possibly represents the journey I’m on, as does the arrow above it. This is the first time I made a 3D (2D?) card. I like how it turned out. Angie
